HB JAIL FOOD MADE INMATE SICK, HE SAYS
Posted by: site admin @ 11:56 pm

Did the fish served in the Surf City pokey make a man sick? He says that it did. Sean Harrington, 27, of Santa Ana, alleges the mahi-mahi he was served gave him food poisoning and made him sick, probably because of improper storing, he says. A prisoner at the jail for eight months, Harrington filed a claim for the medical expenses for his illness, about $2,400. Serving time for a driving under the influence and failure to stop accident in which he pleaded guilty, Harrington cooked the mahi-mahi that allegedly gave him food
poisoning on July 23. This is supposedly nothing unusual as the City of HB has an agreement with Orange County allowing some inmates to serve their time in Huntington Beach rather than county jails. Harrington said he cooked the fish properly, and it should have been fine, but it wasn’t. The jail has a kitchen similar to a restaurant kitchen. Its areas are inspected twice a year by state officials.

Wow I’ve heard of nearly everything but this beats the cake!!

Aren’t prisoners supposed to receive bread & water? Mahi sounds gourment. It’s something I certainly can’t afford on my unemployment salary.

What a brat. Don’t we regualar people have a say on how we spend money on prisoners? I can see why so many people want to go to jail and stay there.

I am somewhat an expert on jails. Huntington Beach is one of the cities that have their own jail…just like they have their own library system, as well. If you’re looking for city-operated jails, be sure to check out Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana. These revenue producers allow savings of a booking fee the OC Jail charges. But cutting costs on refrigeration or quality of fine fish…honestly!

When he cooked and ate his mahi-mahi in prison, how did he manage to spend over $2000 in medical care? Is that what they charge in jail to see a doctor? Now that is one of the finer jails, I’m guessing. We need to grade them like restaurants, A, B, C, etc.

Lemme get this straight. The cook drives drunk, leave the scene of an accident and gets sick from the fish. Is there no humanity? What do our American servicemen and women eat? I bet they’d be happy to consume a little mahi-mahi.

I think we need to charge more rent for living in a jail. While we pay taxes and inmates don’t, receive free meals and rent free accommodations, what’s wrong with this picture?
