I went looking for a Local Huntington Beach Event for the New Year’s Eve Celebration. What I found was a variety of inexpensive bar shows, the normal scene for these clubs that serve up entertainment, food, drinks and fun on a daily basis. And for the high-end crowd, there’s a $500/person night concert you can enjoy if you want to splurge on Smooth Jazz and a room at the Hyatt hotel in Huntington Beach. I had to keep looking. I love jazz, of course, but just can’t justify the price right now.
Other options that are affordable and fun were the Gangster’s Eve Ball at Martini Blues. If you dress in 30’s attire, you may win cash prizes for best outfit. Martini Blues has been a music venue serving up solid music and comedy throughout its near 10-year span. Changing hands last year, the music offererings were downsized and the place began to offer more for the football crowd, something that does well seasonally in Huntington Beach and surrounding areas (other football venues are Longboard Pub, Hurricane’s, Sharkeez, Gallaghers, Killarney Pub, HB Brewing Co. and Beachfront 301.)
Downtown HB will be the Main Street of activities with bands at Gallaghers, Hurricanes (or Canes, as local say,) and along PCH at The Blues Cafe (formerly Kozmos, then The Brigg).
So what did I decide to do? I confess that I haven’t decided yet.
